  Lincoln & Davis:
Dave and Abe’s Great Adventure:

Become a history detective!  Using hands-on documents, photos and artifacts, students uncover clues to the story of David Davis and Abraham Lincoln’s incredible journey from the Illinois frontier to the nation’s capital at the time of the Civil War.

Theme

This new educational program explores the origins and legacy of the Civil War, as seen through the experiences of Abraham Lincoln, David Davis and their friends and acquaintances in McLean County, Illinois.

The program is designed for 5th-grade students and is available for school field trips each May.

Objectives

o     To help students discover the significant relationship that developed between Abraham Lincoln and David Davis during the years 1850 to 1865.

o      Students will examine and analyze period artifacts that include facsimiles of the actual letters of Abraham Lincoln, David Davis, Sarah Davis, and their friends in McLean County.
