FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “IRISH TEA” MARCH 13 AT DAVID DAVIS MANSION BLOOMINGTON, IL – St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated at the David Davis Mansion with a drinking O’the Green – tea, that is. “An Irish Tea at Clover Lawn” at the David Davis Mansion State Historic Site will offer a limited number of visitors the chance to enjoy tea served by a Victorian maid in period costume and learn about the Mansion’s Irish maids, Katie and Bridget. Guests will learn how the maids lived and worked with the Davis family in the 1800s, and will be treated to a surprise visit from one of the maids who will tell her story of coming to America. Sessions will be held Saturday, March 13 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Seating is limited to 28 people per session, and reservations at $13 for adults and $10 for children under 13 may be made by calling (309) 828-1084 or (309) 827-2200. “The formal Victorian parlor at the Davis Mansion will be the setting for the event, and parlor tables will be set with fine linens, crystal and china,” said David Davis Mansion Site Manager Marcia Young. “Guests will be properly served hot tea by an authentically costumed Victorian maid while enjoying the fun and informative presentation about local Irish history.” “An Irish Tea” is sponsored by the David Davis Mansion Foundation. The David Davis Mansion State Historic Site, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, was built in 1872 for U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Davis and his wife, Sarah. It is open Wednesday through Sunday for free public tours, and is located at 1000 E. Monroe in Bloomington. # # #
